Economic and Social Survey (NSES) is a national survey designed to collect social data that is relatively very broad population. Data generated susenas form of data of various economic and social aspects of subsistence such as clothing, food, housing, education, health, safety and employment. Such data are needed by the government as a result of information achievement of development programs and to determine how far the development programs that have been implemented to improve the welfare of society.

Starting in 2011 the collection of data consumption / expenditure of households conducted on a quarterly basis. Each year of data collection was conducted in March (first quarter), June (second quarter), September (third quarter), and December (fourth quarter). With the aim to improve the accuracy of the data that is generated and in line with the increase in frequency of consumption data requests / household expenditure to GDP / GDP quarterly and calculating poverty.
