Abstract

The development performance of a region can be expressed through various indicators such as Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), Human Quality Index, and Human Development Index (HDI). This publication uses HDI as the basis for assessing such performance. The advantage of HDI compared to other indicators is that, in addition to measuring the social aspect, HDI also measures the economic aspect. HDI can also be used as a basis for drafting a framework in development planning.The data presented in the Human Development Index publication for Batu City in 2008 refers as much as possible to the indicators outlined in the Strategic Plan (Renstra) of Batu City for 2004-2008. The data provided includes a general overview of the area, population quality, health conditions, education, employment, and regional economy.
