Abstract

The performance of a region’s development can be measured using various indicators such as Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), Quality of Life Index, and Human Development Index (HDI). This publication uses HDI as the basis for evaluating performance. The advantage of HDI compared to other indicators is that, in addition to measuring the social aspects, it also evaluates the economic aspects. HDI can also be used as a foundation for developing a framework for development planning. The data presented in the Human Development Index of Batu City 2011 publication refers, as much as possible, to the indicators outlined in the Batu City Strategic Plan for 2009-2011. The data includes an overview of the region, population quality, health conditions, education, employment, and the regional economy.
