Abstract

The development performance of a region can be expressed through various indicators such as Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), the Quality of Life Index, and the Human Development Index (HDI). This publication uses the HDI as the basis for assessing this performance. The advantage of the HDI compared to other indicators is that, in addition to measuring the social aspect, the HDI also measures from an economic perspective. The HDI can also be used as a basis for preparing a framework for development planning.The data presented in the Human Development Index publication for Batu City in 2009 refers as much as possible to the indicators outlined in the Batu City Strategic Plan for 2005-2009. The data presented includes an overview of the region, population quality, health conditions, education, employment, and the local economy.
